Hey there, Tallahassee! There’s a hot new spot in town and it’s creating quite the buzz among locals and visitors alike. Introducing The Filibuster, a brand new members-only listening and conversation club located at 102 W. Jefferson St. This charming venue has taken over the space that once housed Andrew’s 228, and it’s ready to make a splash!
Whether you’re a card-carrying member or just looking to enjoy some scrumptious bites during the legislative session, The Filibuster has got you covered! From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., both members and non-members can dig into their enticing express lunch menu. Prepare your taste buds for the star of the menu, the famous “Italian Haight Ashbury” sandwich, a beloved dish that has made a comeback from its predecessor Andrew’s.
The Filibuster is co-owned by Adam Reiss, who also owns the popular Brick House on College Avenue. The entrepreneurial spirit clearly runs in the family, as Adam’s uncle, Andy Reiss, founded the famous Andrew’s Downtown, now transformed into Hayward House eatery and bar.
What sets The Filibuster apart? The vibe! This delightful club aims to create an ambiance filled with good music, engaging conversation, and a true sense of community among its guests. The décor is a charming fusion of politics and music, featuring a stunning mural adorned with black-and-white canvases showcasing both political icons and rock legends. Imagine enjoying your evening in a space that feels reminiscent of Humphrey Bogart’s bar from Casablanca.
The lounge area offers a cozy mix of comfort and style, not to mention the “Off the Record” room, which is brimming with vinyl records that will surely resonate with any music enthusiast. For members looking for a more exclusive experience, a hidden lounge area is available, making one feel like they’ve discovered a secret world of conversation and camaraderie. Membership is open to those who are 22 years and older, and joining only costs a mere annual fee of $11.11.
Aside from delving into delightful discussions, members also enjoy the privilege of hosting private events and attending member-exclusive gatherings like business functions and fundraisers. And if that wasn’t enough, a portion of the sales from dining will contribute to the Filibuster Impact Fund, supporting local charities and educational initiatives, including those with Florida State University. This way, guests can eat, drink, and socialize, knowing they’re also giving back to the community.
The menu is worth talking about! It includes a selection of high-quality wines, spirits, delectable Italian tapas, inviting small dishes, and your very own neo-Neapolitan pizzas that are cheekily named after elected leaders. There’s truly something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a light snack or a hearty meal.
The Filibuster is open from 5 p.m. until the conversations stop. This ties in perfectly with its name, as the aim is to extend the evenings for residents and visitors looking to unwind, relax, and engage. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s an experience meant for hospitality professionals and anyone eager to socialize and exchange ideas.
With all this excitement, it’s clear that The Filibuster is making its mark in Tallahassee’s vibrant dining and entertainment scene. So why not gather your friends, dive into some delightful conversations, and become a part of this burgeoning community at The Filibuster? Who knows what inspiring discussions await you!
