Tallahassee International Airport Soars with 12.9% Growth in 2024 Passenger Traffic!

Exciting news is coming out of Tallahassee, where the city’s airport is experiencing a surge in passenger numbers! Despite some bumps in the road, Tallahassee International Airport (TIA) welcomed a whopping 965,921 passengers in 2024, representing a fantastic 12.9% growth over the previous year’s total of 855,568. That’s nearly an extra 110,000 travelers choosing TIA for their journeys!

Challenges Faced but Overcome

This impressive growth happened even after the airport lost its JetBlue service in November 2024. Kudos to TIA for managing to keep its numbers up despite some service challenges! December also showed promising growth, with passenger traffic rising by 12.7% compared to December 2023. In total, 83,277 people boarded flights through the airport that month, up from the previous year’s 73,891.

Interestingly, Delta Group experienced a significant boost, with an impressive increase of 11.1%, while Silver Airways made waves by surging a remarkable 209.5% year-over-year in December 2024. However, it wasn’t all good news—American Airlines reported a small decline of 1.4% in its passenger traffic during the same month.

The Price of Travel

$561.69. This means that travelers might find themselves paying more than those flying out of airports in various nearby cities like Montgomery, Lafayette, Columbus, and Dothan. 146th in passenger volume among large airports, it’s clear that *more could be done* to make flying out of Tallahassee more appealing.

The Future Looks Bright

International Processing Facility is set to launch in 2025 as part of a five-year improvement plan. This project aims to enhance both international flights and cargo capacity, promising a better travel experience for everyone!

Exploring New Options

9.5% increase in passenger traffic from November 2023 to November 2024 and a year-to-date increase of 12.82%, the airport is in a prime position to implement changes that could take air travel in Tallahassee to new heights!
