TALLAHASSEE, FL – In a significant development for local transportation, Flix North America, the parent company of FlixBus and Greyhound, has announced the introduction of its intercity bus services at Tallahassee’s C.K. Steele Bus Plaza. The move, which will enhance travel options for the community, was confirmed during a company announcement on Wednesday.
Starting soon, travelers will find both FlixBus and Greyhound operating multiple intercity bus schedules daily from the intermodal transit center located at 111 W. Tennessee St. This location offers residents and visitors a convenient and affordable means of transportation, connecting them with a variety of destinations.
The new services aim to offer reliable and sustainable transportation options in the region. With the original Greyhound bus terminal located just a short distance away at 120 W. Tennessee St., this transition to the C.K. Steele Bus Plaza represents a strategic partnership between public and private sectors to improve access to intercity travel.
In a statement, Kai Boysan, the CEO of Flix North America, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture. “We’re excited to bring our intercity bus services to the C.K. Steele Bus Plaza,” he stated. He emphasized that intermodal hubs like the C.K. Steele Plaza are vital for enhancing transportation accessibility, promoting an environmentally friendly travel option for the community.
This initiative not only promises smoother travel experiences but also aims to provide more reliable cross-country transportation. Flix North America acquired Greyhound in 2021, and since then, efforts have been underway to enhance the experience for travelers across the United States.
The C.K. Steele Bus Plaza also serves as a hub for Tallahassee’s StarMetro, the local public transit service. This gives travelers the opportunity to seamlessly connect with city bus services, further expanding the travel options available at one central location.
The introduction of FlixBus and Greyhound marks a transformative period for transportation in Tallahassee. Local officials and community members alike remain hopeful that this development will stimulate economic growth and tourism in the area, fostering a culture of connectivity and movement.
The arrival of FlixBus and Greyhound to the C.K. Steele Bus Plaza is a positive step toward improved travel options for residents and visitors in Tallahassee. By solidifying affordable, reliable, and sustainable transportation, this partnership aims to enhance the quality of life in the area and provide much-needed services to the community.
As Tallahassee transitions to this new transportation model, officials are eager to gauge community response and anticipate the impact on local travel habits.
