Bragg Memorial Stadium on Ken Riley Field, where FAMU football held its 2025 Pro Day. Fourteen former players showcased their skills in front of scouts from twelve NFL teams, along with representatives from the CFL’s BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The impressive roster of talent had FAMU’s head coach, James Colzie III, beaming with pride for his players’ accomplishments, which included championships and graduation from the institution. Acknowledging FAMU’s rich tradition of producing NFL stars, alumni such as Markquese Bell, Terrell Jennings, Isaiah Land, and Xavier Smith serve as shining examples of the program’s success.

Standout Performances and Aspirations

Among the notable athletes, Daniel Richardson caught the eyes of scouts after shedding over 20 pounds in preparation for the event. Running a 4.68-second 40-yard dash, he was also crowned Offensive MVP at the recent HBCU Legacy Bowl. Meanwhile, Kendall Bohler, a cornerback and HBCU All-American, showcased his talents with a 4.63-second dash and a remarkable 35-inch vertical leap.

It was a special day for Jeremiah Pruitte as well, who celebrated his 24th birthday while competing. Fellow athlete Kelvin Dean Jr. also made a splash, expressing his aspirations of joining the NFL following his Pro Day performance.

A Bright Future for FAMU Football

FAMU football is making waves, boasting one of the largest Pro Days among HBCUs, with approximately 16 scouts in attendance. With the NFL Draft set for April 24-26, the excitement continues as FAMU players have been meeting with various NFL teams, increasing their chances of being selected.

Under Coach Colzie’s guidance, FAMU football is looking to the future, actively recruiting and utilizing the transfer portal to strengthen the team for the upcoming 2025 season. They anticipate adding around 27 new players during National Signing Day and through spring transfers, highlighting the importance of attracting promising high school prospects to build a solid foundation.

As Tallahassee basked in the glow of celebration and hopeful aspirations, FAMU’s Be Out Day and Pro Day reminded everyone of the university’s vibrant spirit and the continuing legacy of its students and athletes.
